WEvolve is portmanteau for We Evolve. I believe that we all have the capacity for change in a healthy and positive direction.
My journey started in 1976 when I graduated from Quinnipiac University as an Associate Degree Registered Nurse. Being a bedside nurse helped me understand the needs of patients and improved my communication skills. At Yale-New Haven Hospital I’ve worked in a variety of settings including Orthopaedics, Otolaryngology, Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care and Psychiatry. One of the highlights of my career at Yale-New Haven Hospital was working as an Implementation Specialist for the hospital’s first electronic health record.
In 1994 I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
In 1998 I entered Yale University School of Nursing with a dual major as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Having a medical background has helped me tremendously in dealing with patients with behavioral health concerns. Upon graduation in 2002 I worked in a variety of settings. However I was drawn into caring for those individuals with substance use disorders. I strongly believe in advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves. I also strongly believe in removing the stigma associated with mental health and substance abuse.
In 2019 I graduated from Quinnipiac University with my doctorate. My major was the “Care of Populations.” I focused my studies on getting increased access to those with behavioral health and substance abuse disorders.
It has been a challenging and rewarding journey and I am humbled to be able to treat those whom I meet in my practice.
